Supermarine Southampton I ‘N9899’ by Hawkeye UK

Built 1925 and delivered to 480 (Coastal Reconnaissance) Flight at Calshot. Loaned to the Development Flight , MAEE Felixstowe, between April 1927 and February 1928. One of three Southamptons wrecked in a gale at Portland in November 1928. The fuselage was sold and used as a houseboat on tidal mud-flats at Bawdsey Ferry, Suffolk. Recovered in 1967, restoration began at RAF Cardington in 1984 and was completed in 1995. The fuselage was returned to a stunning condition and new tail surfaces were constructed. She remains on display in the Historic Main Hangars at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London, UK. 28th May 2016
